SO . . HOW ’ D WE GET HERE ?

HISTORY

Emeritus Clinical Solutions was founded in 2012 by Sheneka Rains and Robert Manross with a clear and urgent mission: establish a new gold standard for hospital bed maintenance, bringing long-overdue attention to a critical area of patient care and redefining expectations for service, performance, and accountability. Hospital beds, one of the most critical medical devices in patient care, are often overlooked and inconsistently maintained through traditional service channels. The result is downtime, frustration, and unnecessary risk. Emeritus set out to change that.

What began as a focused effort to improve hospital bed maintenance quickly grew into something more. Early incubation at the University of Texas at Dallas Venture Development Center helped shape a new approach, one centered on accountability, responsiveness, and real operational impact. As the company expanded, Emeritus became a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), allowing it to support government healthcare systems while building a team of highly trained technicians committed to a higher standard.

Over time, working closely with hospital teams revealed a deeper issue. The challenge was not just broken equipment. It was fragmentation. Multiple vendors, reactive service models, limited visibility, and disconnected workflows created inefficiencies that no hybrid service model could solve. Hospitals did not need another vendor. They needed a partner who could bring everything together.

That realization led to the evolution of the Emeritus Bed Maintenance 2.0 program: an integrated healthcare operations partner. By implementing integrated operations, data-driven intelligence, customized solutions, and mission-driven partnerships into one coordinated system, Emeritus helps healthcare leaders simplify complexity and operate with confidence.

Our approach is built to feel like the program you would design yourself if you had the time, resources, and specialized expertise. We operate as an extension of your team, with dedicated technicians on-site, aligned with your goals, and focused on measurable outcomes like improved uptime, reduced total cost of ownership, and stronger operational performance.

Today, Emeritus is helping set a new standard for hospital equipment management. Not by simply maintaining beds, but by improving how healthcare systems think about service, performance, and partnership. We go beyond repairs to provide insight, coordination, and continuous improvement so the systems supporting patient care are reliable, efficient, and ready when they are needed most.

Because in healthcare, confidence comes from systems that work.

Robert Manross, President & CEO

A veteran of the United States Army where he served over seven years honorably in the ordnance corps as a special electronics technician. Robert enlisted in the United States Army in March 2003 where he completed basic training at Fort Benning, GA. In May 2003 he attended signal school for electronics training. During his time in the Army, he served three tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 2004 to March 2005, October 2006 to December 2007, and April 2009 to April 2010. In July 2010, after the Army, Robert attended the Erie Institute of Technology where he graduated with honors with an Associate of Specialized Technology degree in Bio-Medical Equipment Technology. During his last semester at Erie Institute of Technology Robert interned at Emeritus, formerly Rosellini Scientific, working on various types of hospital beds and biomedical equipment.

From Intern to CEO was a quick transition due to Robert's initiative and ability to provide an excellent customer experience. Robert's responsibilities now include maintaining operational excellence and building the company's future.

Sheneka Rains, Business, Research & Development

Sheneka Rains, Co-Founder of Emeritus Clinical Solutions, has spent more than two decades working at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and operations. Her focus has always been on simplifying complexity and building solutions that improve real-world performance for healthcare teams.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering, is a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET), and earned a Master’s degree in Healthcare Informatics from the University of Texas. Early in her career, she trained biomedical technicians in developing healthcare systems through MediSend International and later gained hands-on experience within Baylor Health Care System, where she developed a deep understanding of hospital operations and clinical workflows.

Through these experiences, she identified a consistent gap in healthcare: hospital beds, despite their critical role, were often under-managed and overlooked. That insight became the foundation for Emeritus.

Sheneka currently serves on the board of the Healthcare Technology Management Association of North Texas and the Lone Star Healthcare Technology Management Association. She was also recognized as Innovator of the Year by the Healthcare Technology Management Association of North Texas.

Her leadership continues to shape Emeritus into a program that operates as an extension of the hospital team, focused on accountability, performance, and raising the standard of care.
